What is a joint replacement?

Joint replacement is a surgical procedure in which parts of an arthritic or damaged joint are removed and replaced with a metal, plastic or ceramic device called a prosthesis. The prosthesis is designed to replicate the movement of a normal, healthy joint.

What is Osteoarthritis (OA)? 

Osteoarthritis occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of your bones wears down over time. It is the most common form of arthritis. Although osteoarthritis can effect  any joint, the disorder most commonly affects joints in your hands, knees, hips and spine.

What is a Fracture? 

A fracture is a broken bone ranging from a thin crack to a complete break. Bone can fracture in a number of ways - crosswise, lengthwise, in several places, or into many pieces. Fractures most commonly occur when a bone is impacted by more force or pressure than it can support.

Physiotherapy can help you regain normal range of motion, strength, and functional mobility after a fracture and ensure you return to optimum function as quickly as possible.
